Greg and Corinna Tucker have made a $2 million gift to the University of New Hampshire to install lights at Tucker Field, the future home of the men’s and women’s soccer and women’s lacrosse programs.
The Tuckers are longtime supporters of UNH Athletics, and their gift is a significant step in transforming Tucker Field into a stadium. In addition to housing UNH teams, Tucker Field provides community space for the Oyster River Youth Association (ORYA).
“Athletics is an invaluable tool for bringing people together and providing a positive outlet for so many students and young athletes. Sports help build community and elevate an institution, and we are so proud to play a role in enriching that process at UNH,” Greg Tucker says.
Greg Tucker is founder, vice-chairman and CEO of ProAmpac, a leading global flexible packaging company, and serves on the UNH Director of Athletics Advisory Board (DAAB) and Northeast Passage Futures Board. Corinna Tucker is a UNH professor emerita and an active member of the DAAB.
The Tuckers have established and are involved in multiple foundations and non-profit organizations, including the Eleanor and Clarence Prevo Foundation, the Tucker Foundation and the ProAmpac Employee Assistance Fund.
“These organizations, along with the others we support, are our passion,” Greg Tucker says.
The ethos of the Eleanor & Clarence Prevo Foundation is to make a difference in the lives of parents, children and community youth. This mission is embodied in the Tuckers' gift to UNH and the surrounding community.
“We want this facility accessible to athletes of all abilities to serve as many community members as possible,” Greg Tucker says. “We hope this gift makes a difference for UNH and its neighbors.”
Tucker Field was built during the 2018-19 academic year and has been an outstanding resource for varsity programs, ORYA and other community groups. The addition of lights will significantly affect how the field is utilized and is an important step in converting the field into a competition venue. The plan is for Tucker Field to include stadium seating, concessions, restroom facilities, a press box and other amenities.
“We are grateful for the incredible support from the Tuckers,” said UNH Director of Athletics Allison Rich. “This gift is transformational in how it will allow us to better support our teams and engage with the community. We are thrilled to continue building our connection with the Tuckers, who are fantastic partners and true Wildcats.”
